dc.description.abstractThe text written by Milica Marušić The career cycle of teachers according to their motives of professional choice: a comparison of general and special schools, is focused on the consideration of three groups of teachers, based on the dominant motives of their professional choice: realists, idealists and opportunists, with the aim of comparing characteristics of career development of those groups of teachers in regular and special education system. Results obtained by the use of a questionnaire (N=209) show that teacher idealists displayed the lowest level of career frustration, out of a total sample. It was concluded that the career development of idealists, opportunists and realists differ depending on the context in which they work: as regular school teachers, opportunists are more prone to withdrawal, while at special schools there is a stronger career frustration.sr
