Abstract
Problem solving of our capability to shape multicultural joint life is gaining in importance. The concept of interculturalism implies interrelationships between two or more than two cultures, whether they are positive or negative. Interculturalism is an encounter of different cultures only when it is factual multicultural co-existence. Intercultural is subjective experience of the foreign, exchange of experiences that enriches individuals and their view of life. To arouse consciousness of co-existence, a number of reform endeavors have to be made in parallel: in educational institutions, media and political parties. That is teachers’ responsibility, because they transfer their knowledge to students - future pedagogues, politicians, journalists. The process of teaching should become inseparable from the process of overcoming fear of the »foreign«. In the transition era, abandonment of authoritarian regimes and democratization, facing challenges of the present day – European in...tegration and globalization, Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with Serbian institutions and experts is trying to find out models and strategies for »joint life« – not only of all people in Serbia but in the Balkans, which would be the initial step on the road to the EU. In this sense, the Foundation office in Serbia has organized a series of seminars, round tables and forums.
