The concept of »learning« is a key concept that the process of teaching revolves around. Any
educational practice rests upon a certain implicit or explicit theory of learning. Dominant
paradigms of psychological theories of learning and a lot of research have shaped educational
practice. As the old saying goes »There is nothing more practical than a good theory«,
theoretical postulates of the concept of »learning« have shaped the roles of teachers and
students, and the goal of the entire educational process. Basic characteristics of the active
teaching/learning program are: learning is a learner’s own, unique design; a multitude of various
methods enables different types of children and different learning styles to become manifested;
it is a teacher’s job to create teaching situations where students will be brought into activities
through which they will design their knowledge and skills in a certain field; teacher and student
are in asymmetric but partnership relations; the ...aim of active teaching is to encourage student
personal development, enabling him to develop his capacities, which means encouraging
differences. A rich offer of diverse teaching methods is the best teaching aid in meeting different
interests, intellectual and social strengths, attitudes, experiences, needs, values, talents.
