Abstract
A proposed reform of curriculum for primary, general secondary and general-education aspect of secondary vocational education has been presented in a document »Strategy of curriculum development«. The concept of educational process, teaching content and methods as presented in the document is based, among other things, on: (a) recognition of general social interests in education, (b) recognition of age, developmental and educational abilities, interest and interests of students, (c) accurate defining of educational objectives and outcomes. Those items can serve as guidelines in a very general and principled survey of ways and mechanisms too, whereby recognition of diversity is made possible or provided for. The concept of new curriculum provides considerably higher degree of teacher’s responsible professional initiative and autonomy, which is indispensable for real individualization in teaching. The possibility of shaping curriculum of local school opens up possibility for re...cognizing varied differences at local community level. It should be pointed out that teaching mother tongue of ethnic community is becoming a basic school subject. One of the potential instruments for recognizing diversity in education is integration of children with special needs, particularly from socially, culturally and economically deprived social groups. This is a strategic commitment of new curriculum.
