The paper considers the relationship between teaching and child’s personal development. The authors pointed to a great
number of theories and studies where both the nature of cognition in teaching process and that of child’s
personal development had various interpretations. Also, it was pointed to the disadvantages of the grade-
class system in students’ achievement/failure. The basis of children’s personal traits was discussed as well
as the latest orientation to studying how the characteristics of the nervous system affect
achievement/failure. Especially, positive effects of neuro-dynamics were considered in respect of
individual approach in teaching. Recommendations for developing a compensation program were given to
teachers. By conforming to individual approach in teaching, they should develop a special system of tasks
and exercises in such programs, structuring teaching content upon student’s individual needs and
strengths, without basically changing the content. It is i...mportant for students to participate in developing
those tasks, thereby creating provisions for a positive attitude to a school subject, to themselves, and to
developing independence in learning. Mastering of teaching content is not time limited, going through the
teaching content again is possible, which produces the feeling of happiness in children.
